Who we are

The AIA Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community (TAP) serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the public in the deployment of computer technology in the practice of architecture. TAP leaders monitor the development of computer technology and its impact on architecture practice and the entire building life cycle, including design, construction, facility management, and retirement or reuse.

Continuing Education: Up to 5 hours of CE available

Building industry trends for high-performance architecture, reductions in the skilled construction trades and increased use of building information modelling point towards a big change in building design and construction. As a result, designers and contractors have been influenced by advanced fabrication techniques. Off-site pre-fabrication, on-site robotic assembly and large-scale 3D printing are just a few of the envisioned opportunities. Through the symposium, our goal is to connect manufacturers, academics, contractors and designers in the Carolinas and encourage the adoption of advanced manufacturing processes in regional projects.
The conference is a unique opportunity for technology leaders to:
    • Share ideas and insights with industry peers and users
    • Explore and test the latest trends and technologies
    • Share technologies used on real-world projects
    • Network with experts in your field
    • Tour digital fabrication labs

Thank you to our event sponsors for their support. To sponsor the 2016 TAP Symposium, contact Kate Shelton.
