Direct marketing of architecture and design services via social media sites is not as effective as it can be for merchandisers and other service providers, where individuals make small, frequent purchasing decisions. Most people do not commission design services on a regular basis; J. Crew fashions or W Hotel resorts can promote sales through viral, word-of-mouth exposure, Architects cannot. Architects can, however, indirectly market their practices on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other channels by sharing knowledge and building awareness of their work.
