Your
local CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) chapter would be another place to look for detailing advice, general QA/QC mentorship about putting a good set of construction documents together, and general advice about how building systems work together and the coordination between the various systems. I wouldn't know immediately how active your local CSI chapter is, but usually the CSI membership is roughly split between spec-writers (most of who are also architects), architects that focus heavily on the technical side of architecture, and another half that are manufacturer product reps.
Spec-writers usually have a ton of knowledge about detailing buildings, even if their work product is a spec book and not drawings. Spec writers may have a reputation for being curmudgeonly, but I think that's completely inaccurate. As a bunch, they usually are extremely eager to teach, mentor, and pass on their knowledge to architects willing to soak in the info.
Even the manufacturer product reps
are also a good resource for how their specific product should be detailed, or what to detail for transitions and similar issues related to their products.
Similarly, the Building Enclosure Council (BEC) might have a chapter that meets in your area. Again, BEC is usually comprised of a very technically-oriented people - architects, waterproofing and building envelope consultants, and manufacturer technical reps that have products focused on the exterior envelope.
