  • 1.  "Registered Agent" for Wisconsin-registered design firm

Are any of my SPP colleagues operating (legally) in Wisconsin as out-of-state incorporated design firms?

My Chicago based, Illinois-incorporated firm needs to register as a "foreign corporation" in Wisconsin to operate there.
I need to find a find a "registered agent" to accept legal correspondence on our behalf, since we do not have a physical office in the state.

How have other small firms handled this?
Is anyone using a registered-agent services for this? I'd appreciate recommendations?
Has anyone paired up with a Wisconsin-based colleagues to take on the role?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure what the requirements are for Wisconsin but when I was in a similar situation with Utah, I was told that the registered agent is often an accountant or lawyer. Fortunately I had a relative in town that was willing to act as a registered agent. It generally meant forwarding 2-3 pieces of mail per year. Again, check the requirements for Wisconsin but in Utah it didn't require any professional license.

    Google registered agent.
I've used incorp.com and love them.  It's only I think $99/year (possibly $150 cannot remember for sure).  This is the same for almost every state where you are operating as an out-of-state architect.  If you have a local office in that state then you designate someone in that office.
