Will Codes Allow Creativity? - SRQ Daily Aug 31, 2017
Karin Murphy, director of the city's Urban Design Studio, says the intention of the codes, though, isn't to hamper vision, just to define when architects can work without intense scrutiny in public settings.

Thanks for posting.  I think form codes where put in place to ensure some kind of architectural cohesion or character residents might find worth building on.  If an architect can't get creative within a given envelope or even pre-determined style, they should study history the way they used to before the form code of modernism prohibited the study and creative use of traditional styles.  One day I hope the AIA will address this deficiency in an architect's education.  Till then, a little Baron VonHausmann will do us good.

I guess I will be forever be gobsmacked, dumbstruck, and confounded by architects so willing and eager to cede such vast swaths of our profession and purview, and our responsibility for the built environment.
