    APT DC 2014 SYMPOSIUM CALL FOR PAPERS


    The Association for Preservation Technology, Washington, DC chapter, in collaboration with the DC Chapter of Docomomo, invites the submission of presentations for the APT DC 2014 Symposium: The Challenges of Preserving Modern Materials & Assemblies. Abstracts are due by May 20, 2014. Possible topics include:

    • Durability and lifespan of modern materials and their maintenance
    • Difficulty of repair and incremental replacement
    • Impact on authenticity and integrity of large-scale replacement
    • Challenges of finding replacements for archaic materials
    • Issues relating to curtain wall systems
    • Diagnostics and evaluation methods for modern materials
    • Conservation treatments for modern materials
    • Applying technology to the study, assessment and treatment of modern materials
    • Impact of changing building codes on existing assemblies

     The event will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at the AIA Headquarters in Washington, DC.
