Spent a very informative day at the AIA Headquarters at the Building Connections Congress. A great mix of presentations and discussion with an impressive array of technology participants including all the BIM industry leaders from Microsoft to Autodesk and Bentley, from Graphisoft to Nemetschek and ARCOM.

Stanford, Penn State, U of Buffalo, NASA, the Army Corps of Engineers and GSA were represented with participants from as far as Japan and associated members from the construction industry.

Good participation from the Knowledge Communities provided a good cross section of technology applications and needs including facility management, health and education.

I had the honor of presenting a short bit about BIM scaled up to the city level and some thoughts on smart cities as systems coping with sustainability demands and climate change. All as AG member of the Regional and Urban Design Committee (RUDC). Presentation

(an attempt to cross post this to TAP failed for some reason).
