Bio

A retired, licensed architect, member of The AIA since 1968. and the founder of Management Consulting Services, specializing in profesional design firm management. Steve has served as VP and Director of Operations for more than one internationally prominent architecture firms and was the Managing Partner of his own small, architectural firm.
Steve continues to serve as a workshop leader, for national, state & local AIA components. He developed course material for his presentations focused on FM and Project Administration. From 1986 to 1989, he served on the National AIA Practice Management Committee and was its Chair in 1989. Steve also served in a similar capacity at the Texas and Califiornia state and local AIA component levels.
Steve is co-author with Michael Tardif, Assoc. AIA, of a recent book, 'Financial Management for Design Professionals: The Path to Profitability', published in December 2006. Steve was a contributing author to two other books on FM; writing the chapters titled 'Project Fee Budgeting' in 'New Directions in A&E Practice and 'Architectural Accounting Systems' for 'The Encylclopedia of Accounting'. Steve has also authored numerous articles for The AIA Practice Management Digest, AIA Best Practices series, AIA KnowlegeNet, AIArchitect Online, has a profile in Architect Magazine and has written a monograph of 12 articles for professional design firm management titled, 'Management Tools', published in numerous AIA state and local chapter newsletters.
In 2007, Steve, assisted the staff at Axium A-E Software in developing custom reporting in support of the 'Wintner P-L', allowing his clients to implement the FM processes that he teaches in his workshops, based on his upgrade of the legacy FM systems,designed by Robert F. Mattox, FAIA (retired).
Steve's newest endeavors include transitioning clients to a new operational paradigm: 'Accountability through Self-Management'.
