During the recession and for several years after we found that we were losing work to firms that were having drafting or engineering done overseas. We gave it a try on several projects and it was a terrible experience. We found that schedules, quality and our reputation were all suffering. Even worse, this was all happening while we devoted enormous amount of time (and fees) checking drawings and trying to maintain quality. We gained tremendous respect for the American work ethic and the education our architects receive both in school and on the job. All work is now done locally, our customer satisfaction is back and we no longer compete for the projects that our competitors are having done for lower costs overseas. We get those clients for better fees later, after their poor experiences!
