A brief biographical note aims to provide a synopsis of the main activities considered of importance in a professional career. A more detailed description of each period is described in the body of the curriculum vitae.
In 1984, and since 1982 has been employee in a State sector job, enters the first degree in Architecture at the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, after having attended the 1st year of degree in Landscape Architecture at the Universidade de Évora.
In 1987 starts collaborate at Arq Rosario Ribeiro Atelier and takes contact with the exercise of professional practice and studio work.
In 1989, after completion of the degree, starts together with architect Rosário Ribeiro the society Progest Atlier as it remains today, speaking on areas from project planning, architecture, safety and health at work, management of coordination of security and works in construction, counting with several works built in Portugal and Cape Verde .
Since that time, conducts work in the field of architecture and urbanism with an emphasis on technical quality of the project from the perspective of process optimization and use of computational techniques applied to the project.
In 1992 teaches a course on Integrated Planning's Degree in Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UNL.
From 1993 to 1995 as a monitor ensures the practical lessons of the discipline of Computer Aided Design for a degree in Civil Engineering in Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of UNL.
In 1995 entered as a Guest Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology of UNL, where he teaches the discipline of computer aided design for the degrees in Civil Engineering, Electrical and Industrial Engineering.
Since 1997 develops more intensively research work applied to project work with emphasis on the suitability of the site architecture and climate, and the introduction of the concept and principles of sustainability in the urban sector.
In 1997 with the completion of the Master course, passes to the category of Assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology of UNL, assuming the regency and teaching of the disciplines of Computer Aided Design, Elements of Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning and also the responsibility for the discipline of General Design, all of the degree in Civil Engineering.
During the period from 1993 to 2002 represent the FCT/UNL juries in several design competitions, the management of project teams and coordination of supervision teams of works.
Between late 2001 and 2003, enter the team that develops the study for the creation of a new degree in architecture in which the design component possesses a close connection to the stage of materialization and direction of design and construction.
With the completion of the Ph.D. in 2004 goes to the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of UNL where holds the baton and teaching of the disciplines of Computer Aided Design, Elements of Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning and still responsibility for the discipline of General Design, all of the degree in Civil Engineering.
Between February 2004 and July 2007 also assumes the post of Chairman of the Directors Board of the company SIMARSUL - Integrated Wastewater Multimunicipal the Setúbal Peninsula, SA.
Result of its interest in the study and research associated with the project leads him to propose the creation of GEOTPU – Grupo de Estudos de Ordenamento do Território e Planeamento Urbano (Study Group on Territory and Urban Planning) to see approved in December 20, 2005 by the commission's Scientific DEC/FCT.
In 2005 and again in 2008 was elected coordinator of the Chamber of Construction Materials and Technology Department of Civil Engineering at UNL.
