Bio

Jeanne Jackson, FAIA, NCARB, LEED AP, is a partner at VCBO Architecture, a 90+ person firm in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Since joining the firm in 1990 after graduation from the University of Utah CA+P, (then known as the Graduate School of Architecture), Jeanne has specialized in the design of innovative educational facilities designed for the future of education, and has shared her knowledge on this topic at numerous national conferences.  Multiple schools that Jeanne has helped to conceive and design have won national, regional and local awards for their educational innovation. She was the design leader of Odyssey Elementary, the only LEED Gold Certified public elementary school in Utah, and the first Zero-Energy school in Utah.  Jeanne has taught design studios and the Materials & Construction course at her alma mater, and acted as a mentor to many students and emerging professionals over the course of her career.  In 2015 she expanded her local service as the President of AIA Utah. She has encouraged and facilitated many worthy Utah architects in their pursuit of elevation to the AIA College of Fellows during multiple years on the AIA Utah Honors & Awards Committee. Jeanne’s national service is extensive. She was a member of the AIA Committee on Architecture for Education (AIA CAE) Leadership Group, chairing that Knowledge Community in 2011. She has been a member of eight accreditation visits to schools of architecture and is a 2018-2021 Director on the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Jeanne has been a licensed architect since 1993, has served on the Utah State Architectural Licensing Board for 8 years and led numerous committees and Task Forces furthering the mission of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Jeanne is the first woman in Utah to be elevated to Fellowship in the AIA, and the only woman in Utah to be awarded the AIA Western Mountain Region Silver Medal and the NCARB Medal for Distinguished Service.
