Bio

As an architect and storyteller, I celebrate the small, the forgotten, and the under-appreciated architecture and its associated people through film, traditional scholarship, and historic preservation.
Currently teaching at Utah Valley University and developing a new Bachelor of Architecture program. I teach beginning design, Codes & Construction Law, and Global History of Architecture. I advocate for historic preservation and greening existing structures along with walkable sustainable urban communities.
Previously I was a staff architect doing museum-quality restorations on Ohio state-owned historic properties. Projects include well-known sites like the houses of President Harding and Harriet Beecher Stowe, as well as historically-sensitive interventions on lesser known sites. My work includes pre-design fieldwork, documentation, destructive investigation, and grant writing, along with construction documents and construction administration.
