The AIA is excited to host two international practice workshops this month. Join us at AIA Houston on Tuesday, July 21 or at AIA San Francisco on Thursday, July 30 to help you and your firm take advantage of the numerous architectural opportunities in thriving and emerging overseas markets. Working Abroad - Pros, Cons, & Ways Forward will provide you with knowledge of the ins and outs of working in foreign countries. India, Brazil, and the Middle East will serve as case studies for any international work, as they offer a myriad of opportunities to expand your business portfolio. More information is available at www.aia.org/workingpcw

The July 21 Houston workshop will be held from 8:30am-12:00pm at AIA Houston, 315 Capitol St, Suite 120, Houston, Texas 77002.

The July 30 San Francisco workshop will be held from 2:00pm-5:30pm at AIA San Francisco, 130 Sutter Street, Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94104.

This training session will assist firms and members by connecting them with members who have done work internationally, the U.S. Department of CommerceSmall Business Administration, and more.

Attendees will learn about business opportunities that are available across the globe (including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Brazil, and India) resources provided by the Federal government, and how to best use those resources. Problems that can occur while working abroad, how business practices differ from the United States, and how to comply with foreign laws will also be topics of discussion.

    Who Should Attend?

      • Architects who are interested in moving their firms abroad

      • Architects who have worked abroad and are looking for insights into other countries

      • Architects who are working on large infrastructure projects and want to find out more about U.S. Government funding opportunities
