2019 Taliesin Colloquium student scholarship

The American Institute of Architect’s Historic Resources Committee is announcing opportunities for student scholarships to attend the 2019 AIA Taliesin Colloquium at Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona. The scholarship will provide a stipend of up to $550.00 to cover travel and lodging expenses. Registration for the Colloquium will be included in the Scholarship.

About the Colloquium

The AIA Taliesin Colloquium will be held February 8-9, 2019. The focus of the 2019 Colloquium will be a deep dive into the key preservation planning tool known as the Historic Structure Report (HSR.) We have gathered expertise from across the country to look at the origin of the HSR, how it is used, new methods and technologies for documenting historic buildings. There is a wave of existing building stock becoming eligible for historic designation–how will we manage that task ahead? We will engage our experts in a panel discussion on the future of reuse of our many historic structures, including post war modernism, and best practices to document them.

Knowledge exchange

In exchange for financial support to attend the conference, scholars collaborate with HRC on an article related to the Colloquium. This article will be promoted through the HRC Preservation Architect newsletter.

Submission requirements

We are requesting a short resume, statement of interest in preservation and documentation of historic resources, and thoughts on how you will leverage this scholarship opportunity at your educational institution or in your community. We also request a letter reference from a member of the faculty at your school with direct knowledge of your work.
The deadline for submission is December 15, 2018.

Submissions should be sent to:
