Innovative Design through Collaboration: The Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute (AHDLI) $0 | 1LU/HSW
This session will explore how the Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute (AHDLI) equips affordable housing developers to navigate complex financing and regulatory constraints, and deliver homes that meet the needs of their communities.
In addition to receiving tactical tools and project specific feedback from national design experts, developers who participate in AHDLI embark on a journey to center healing and equity in their projects and in their day-to-day development practices.
You’ll come away with knowledge on how architecture can produce livable and sustainable housing for low- and middle-income people across the United States. Affordability, equity, and health are outcomes that can be designed for, with the proper training, tools, and leadership from programs like AHDLI.
This program is a collaboration between Enterprise Community Partners and the AIA Housing & Community Development Knowledge Community.
PresenterRay Demers is senior director, programs, for Enterprise Community Partners. At Enterprise, Ray leads the Rose Fellowship, the Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute (AHDLI) and other emerging priorities at the intersection of design and housing. He co-led the technical development of the 2020 Enterprise Green Communities Criteria, the latest version of the nation’s only national green building program designed explicitly for green affordable housing construction.
Ray serves on several national advisory groups. He is the 2022 chair of the AIA Housing and Community Development Knowledge Community and was previously co-chair (2020-2021) of the Housing Knowledge Community with the Boston Society of Architects. Prior to joining Enterprise, he worked in construction and architecture firms in the northeast.
Ray holds a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
