Description

USP 797, USP 795 and USP 800 have been going through revisions and will be mandated to be in place by December 1, 2019. The final versions will be in hand by April 1, 2019. The purpose of this session is to review these changes and provide a background to address the client’s needs. The presentation will include an overview of USP Standards and why they are applicable to hospital pharmacy design in general, and in particular to sterile compounding, which occurs in every hospital in the country.  

Learning objectives

After participating in this webinar attendees will be equipped to:

  1. Understand design and compliancy issues and changes associated with non-sterile compounding Labs (USP 795)
  2. Understand design and compliancy issues and changes associated with sterile compounding Labs (USP 797)
  3. Understand design and compliancy issues and changes associated with both non-sterile and sterile hazardous compounding Labs (USP 800)
  4. Better prepared to a compliance strategy for existing hospitals and compounding facilities

Gregg Ostrow, AIA

Gregg graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1984 and became a licensed architect in 1987. From 1998 to 2008, Gregg was the Facility Architect for the St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, Idaho where he worked on over 400 health care projects ranging from Medical Imaging Equipment Replacement projects to Master Planning Regional Healthcare Campuses. Since then he has been consulting for the local hospital systems and has served on the Board of the Idaho Society of Healthcare Engineers.

Bob Falkum

Robert Falkum is an Associate of Gates Healthcare Associates, focusing on HEPA filtration systems and designs for clients. Before joining Gates Healthcare, Mr. Falkum has over three decades of cleanroom systems experience with projects design including Managing Donaldson Company’s High Purity Products Clean Room HEPA filtration group, Application Engineering and Market Director for Weber Technical Products HEPA Cleanroom Products. Mr. Falkum also was a Senior Applications Engineer for National Air Filter in Carlstadt, New Jersey where he provided designs and specifications to Pharmaceutical clientele using cleanroom dust collection and bag-in bag-out containment systems.
