Description
The rooms that move us the most as memorable experiences can be the conceptual starting points for interior architecture and design. Early 20th Century architecture and the free plan supplanted the idea of making rooms with the idea of continuous space, relying on sectional development and spatial continuity as the most memorable qualities of a building interior.
Like the consideration of the Iconic House, ideas of what make a room or a space “iconic” will be explored. The belief that architectural precedents have importance as embodiments of architectural principles, not as models to copy, will be explored. Three architects will present an “iconic room or space” which resonates with them followed by a presentation and discussion of one of their own projects in relation to the selection of an “iconic room” that they presented.
A panel discussion will follow to further explore the nature of what makes a room or a space “iconic” in today’s world. Hosted by CRAN®.
