BIMForum Level of Development (LOD) Specification Workshop - Virtual

With so much more work being done remotely these days, clear communication has become even more important and often more challenging. The LOD Spec is a widely recognized tool that enables clear communication of BIM requirements, content, and reliability. For the last four years this workshop has been held as a highly interactive full-day face-to-face session at each BIMForum conference, and attendees have overwhelmingly acclaimed it as extremely helpful in translating the LOD Spec into more efficient workflows, clearer communications, less waste, and more efficient and effective modeling efforts. The workshop is now being offered in three live online sessions. Accredited for 8 AIA LUs.

Sessions include the following:

  • Executive Briefing. In this 2-hour session participants will develop a basic understanding of the LOD framework and the LOD Spec. We will focus on fundamental knowledge for everyone in the AECO industry, and will address business, economic, and contractual impacts and risk issues that executives and high-level managers need to understand.
  • Hands-on Workshops. In two consecutive 3-hour sessions we’ll delve into nuts-and-bolts application of the LOD framework and LOD Spec. These sessions are highly interactive and include hands-on exercises in which the participants will work with specific processes and tools they can take back to their firms and apply immediately to their projects. Participants in Hands-on Workshop session 1 will receive a Model Development Spec (LOD matrix) for an example project including sample LOD profiles for architect’s and GC’s baselines plus several additional information exchanges.
