ARO: Uniting Beauty & Form with Strategy & Intelligence (1.5 LU)

The AIA Architecture Firm Award is the highest honor bestowed on an architecture practice. Hear from Architecture Research Office (ARO), the New York City firm that earned the honor in 2020. The firm’s diverse project portfolio— spanning strategic planning, architecture, and urban design—is united by a principled and engaged approach to design, a collaborative process, and technical precision.

Learn how ARO’s design process and culture fosters consistently high-quality design that elevates people and places. Explore the firm's past and present work, their process, and their firm culture in a presentation led by the firm’s leaders followed by a Q&A. Each attendee will gain inspirational insights to assist them in the evolution of their practice.

After attending this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Investigate a practice model that unites beauty and form with strategy and intelligence across a diverse body of work.
  2. Engage clients as thought partners to translate the mission into project principles and create designs that are a vehicle for positive change.
  3. Explain how to structure the design process as a form of research and inquiry.
  4. Create a collaborative and nurturing office culture that supports design excellence.
