Course Description 

This course will discuss measures and actions design professionals should consider and adapt in their practices, from project design features to public policy considerations, in order to strengthen and improve communities.

Learning Objectives

  1. Make small design considerations for energy efficiency and sustainability for the betterment of the communities the project(s) serves.
  2. Consider their project design on a macro level for a positive impact shift on urban planning to promote the emotional and social health of the community from a holistic approach.
  3. Use their design skills and knowledge for alternative and supplemental professions that improve communities.
  4. Influence positive change in a community as well as the profession of architecture through activism and lobbying.

Sabrina Herell
Practicing Attorney, Architectural Consultant, Project Manager, Published Author 

Sabrina's legal practice focuses on architect/engineer law, construction law, real estate law, consumer advocacy and estate planning. Sabrina earned a professional degree of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Doctors of Jurisprudence from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. In 2016 Sabrina was the At Large recipient of the Peggy A. Monte Unsung Heroine Award from the Cook County Commissioner Board on Women's Issues.
