Project Delivery Symposium 2022: Delivering the Future

March 8-10, 2022  |  virtual | 6.5 LU

Hosted by AIA’s Project Delivery Knowledge Community, during this symposium owners, architects, engineers, and constructors will join to discuss the latest strategies for driving successful project outcomes including best practices, allocating risk, and employing software and data tools to close gaps between concept development, design, construction, and fabrication. The increasing demand for successful project outcomes continues to drive the design and construction industry toward innovations in project delivery. Recent strategies such as virtual design and construction, and the continued evolution of both project delivery tools and digital technologies, are transforming the traditional roles for designers and relationships among owners, architects, and builders. This symposium considers the future of project delivery and its central role in balancing these unrelenting trends.

Tuesday, March 8 | 1-3:45pm ET

BIM Model as a Right of Reliance in Project Delivery Ecosystem: Even though BIM is well established in our industry, we still trust 2D PDFs more than models and don’t treat models as reliable means of conveying design and construction information. Our first panel will examine the opportunities and barriers for making models reliable tools and deliverables on construction projects.

Role & Integration of Blockchain in Project Delivery: After a break, learn the application of Smart contracts in design-bid-build, and other project delivery models, e.g., design-build, IPD, and other project delivery methods, as our second panel will explore the application of blockchain technology and how it improves project delivery in the AEC industry.

Wednesday, March 9 | 1-4:15pm ET

Introduction to the Architect Dashboard – Pathway to Efficiencies: Learn how project dashboards can enhance collaboration by simply making all project information available, and learn the three critical tools that every project dashboard must have.

Progressive design/build delivery method: why owners choose it, and what the designer should know: During the second session of the day, we'll cover considerations for the designer, considerations for the owner, and the opportunities presented to the designer by the progressive design/build delivery method.

Thursday, March 10 | 1-2pm ET

Implementing Technology on a Historic to Modern Renovation: Adaptive reuse and restoration projects pose their own unique challenges. Our session today recognizes that the challenge for historic building renovations is the reliability, efficiency, and accuracy of existing documentation and existing conditions. Laserscan technology is an efficient, accurate, and low-cost process that benefits both the design process and construction coordination process.
