Shifting perceptions of workplace relationships

February 25, 2021, 2pm Eastern

2pm Eastern / 1pm Central / 12pm Mountain / 11am Pacific Time / 10am Alaska / 9am Hawaii

This webinar is sponsored by Practice Management (PMKC), an AIA knowledge community.

DESCRIPTION:

The relative balances of independence, collaboration, commitment, sacrifice, mentoring, support, and oversight between staff and management have been evolving for several years. While some firms have long-ago gone virtual, with some even dissolving the bonds of formal employment in favor of architectural gig work, COVID was a catalyst causing all other practices to adapt. In many cases, this has brought to light that the unspoken expectations of both staff and management differ.

  • Is it management’s job to make the relationship work no matter what?
  • How transactional is the relationship?
  • How much commitment do staff owe management, and why?
  • What level of sacrifice should management make to accommodate a staff member’s preferences or weaknesses?
