E43 - Crazy Rich Lessons from Singapore: A Case Study of Kampung Admiralty and How to Age Well in the World's Smartest City
April 18, 2023 | 12:00-1:00 pm

Kampung Admiralty was a “first-of-its-kind” intergenerational community built in the Woodlands neighborhood of Singapore. Designed by WOHA Architects, Kampung Admiralty proved to be a hugely successful and transformational neighborhood destination that is serving as a template for other planned intergenerational developments around Singapore. Singapore is also the world’s smartest city and leads the way in the adoption of technology as an integral part of daily living. As we know, the ability of older adults to age in place well and independently is increasingly turning to technology, and Singapore has a number of government-sponsored, innovative initiatives underway at individual, community, and city-wide levels.

E42 - Decarbonization and the Future of RCFE Design and Operation

April 18, 2023 | 12:00-1:00 pm

Upcoming energy code changes and targets will influence the way Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) are planned, constructed, and operated in the future. The requirements and recommendations range from battery back-up to electric-ready infrastructure, impacting commercial kitchens, laundries, energy resilience, and grid dependence, to name a few. In this session, presenters will walk through some of the most important sustainable strategies to design resilient systems for RCFEs and save money over the long term.
