2020 Call for Nominations

Position: Architect member

Characteristics of successful candidates:

Members should have demonstrated a commitment to the KC over an extended period and should have further demonstrated that commitment through leadership of a committee, task force, or other position.

The composition in any given time-frame should represent --- or more desirably, enhance --- the diversity of the overall KC membership.

All candidates should be able to serve the KC as Chair, demonstrating the experience and leadership skills to establish and execute strategic initiatives on behalf of the KC and its membership.

Duties and Expectations:

• Attend a 1.5 day CAE planning meeting in January.
• Attend the spring CAE touring conference, including an international conference once in your 5 year tenure.
• Attend the spring AIA Convention. (optional)
• Attend a 2 day AIA Knowledge Leadership Assembly, usually held in July. (The KLA provides an opportunity for Knowledge Community Leaders, Board Knowledge Community Representatives, and AIA Staff to network, share knowledge and best practices, and build coalitions.)
• Attend the fall CAE conference held with an expo partner.
• Present knowledge at associated organizational events.
• Observe the CAE Design Awards jury in 2020, including attendance at a 1.5 day jury in Washington D.C. in March.
• Serve as jury chair in 2021, including the in-person jury, preparation of the awards book manuscript, organization of an AIA Convention session.
• An annual travel stipend will cover part or all of the costs of travel depending on the distance and resources available each year. All CAE member-leaders can request travel support by activity.
• Participate in monthly coordination conference calls and general administrative functions of the CAE.
• Serve as liaison to one subcommittee.
• Serve as CAE Chair in 2024, including selection of allied organization jurors and volunteer management of two conferences.

Qualifications Statements:

• Letter of Interest including a Vision (of what would you like to accomplish during your appointment as an LG member).
• Resume including:
• Professional Accomplishments (include contribution to, and attendance at AIA-CAE events, subcommittee work, CAE awards, etc.).
• Skills (include curriculum vitae outlining learning environment design, awards, publications, speaking events, knowledge sharing; what are the particular skills that you would bring to the committee that complement the existing LG).
• Letter of Commitment (include a statement of commitment from a leader in your firm that demonstrates your firm’s commitment to supporting your involvement as an LG member).

Position: Educator advisor 

Information and Expectations

We are currently seeking statements of qualifications from individuals who are interested in serving on the LG in the capacity of Educator Advisor. We currently have one (1) open position that would begin in January 2020 and end December 2021.

Characteristics of successful candidates:

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to teaching and learning and a desire to explore the intersection of pedagogy and the design of space and place. Past participation in AIA CAE KC events would be ideal, but is not required.

The composition in any given timeframe should represent --- or more desirably, enhance --- the diversity of the overall KC membership.

All candidates should be able to serve on the KC, demonstrating the experience and leadership skills to establish and execute strategic initiatives on behalf of the KC and its membership.

• An annual travel stipend of $2,000 will cover part or all of the costs of travel, lodging, and registration depending on the distance and resources available each year. All CAE member-leaders can request additional travel support by activity.
• Participate in monthly coordination conference calls and general administrative functions of the CAE.
• Attend the spring AIA Convention. (optional)
• Attend a 2 day AIA Knowledge Leadership Assembly, usually held in July. (The KLA provides an opportunity for Knowledge Community Leaders, Board Knowledge Community Representatives, and AIA Staff to network, share knowledge and best practices, and build coalitions.) (optional)
