Those firms who are large enough to have admin staff should be aware of state laws, anti-harassment policies, and have an up-to-date handbook in place, receipt acknowledged by all employees.
Those firms who have administrative staff who are members of SDA are more likely to have the most current HR practices in place, as they have access to the most current practice management information.

Subject: The Office Environment and Fair Treatment of Employees
I am a new committee member as of 2022 of the PMKC. At our most recent meeting we were discussing our profession and the fair treatment of employees.
How do architects, compared to other professions, measure up? Do we adequately support fair hiring practices, promotions, compensation, benefits and a commitment to a safe nurturing environment?
Back in 2018 Stararchitects, Frank Gehry and Peter Marino were stripped of their AIANY awards due to accusations of harassment by employees. The MeToo movement had an impact on many professions. Does the AIA need to do more to curtail this behaviour?
Five years later are we doing any better? Please share your thoughts.
