Who we are

The Academy page supports AIA's efforts to connect education and practice. AIA works with faculty, staff and students; practitioners; and collateral organizations to support excellence in education and research, expand the pathway to the profession, and prepare future architects. AIA regularly pools resources with AIAS, ACSA, NCARB, NAAB, and others to provide scholarships, educational programming, research, resources, and more.

    Today (9/28) is the deadline to submit for the the ACSA 2023 Architectural Education Awards! ⁠From Design Build to New Faculty Teaching, check out all the categories here.

    Friday (9/30) is the deadline for students to register to participate in the NOMA PDP program, this free monthly professional development program is open to all students attending HBCUs with NAAB accredited Arch programs:

    Register by Friday(9/30) to get the regular rate!

    Submissions for the 2022 Medal for Academic Excellence (Formerly Henry Adams Medal) are due by next Friday (10/7). This is a wonderful recognition opportunity for your "top" graduate of a BArch, MArch, or DArch program, who displays "general excellence" throughout his or her academic career. Please note that a BS, BA, MS, MA architecture degree (not accredited by NAAB) is not eligible for this award.

    One month remains (Deadline 10/26) for collegiate teams to register for the next U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon® cycle! Change the status quo of the built environment by imagining a zero-energy building of the future as part of the hands-on 2023 Design Challenge.

    What do I need to know to register?
    • There's no need to have a design in mind yet or a finalized roster of team members to register. At this stage, all you need to register is the name and contact information of your Team Lead or Faculty Lead and record your intent to compete in 2023.
    • Design drafts are not due until early 2023, leaving several more months for teams to recruit members.
    • Read the 2023 Design Challenge Rules, Competition Guide, and details.
