    Hi all!

I wanted to expand upon this post -- this is an exciting time in our industry!  BlenderBIM appears to be off to a great start, and is still under development.

    OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE
Open source software is software that is freely available to use, modify, and distribute. It is developed by a community of developers who contribute their time and expertise to improve the software. Open source software has many benefits, including:
    • Cost-effectiveness: Open source software is often free or very low-cost, which can save businesses a significant amount of money.
    • Flexibility: Open source software can be customized to meet the specific needs of businesses.
    • Security: Open source software is often more secure than proprietary software because it is more widely reviewed by developers.
    • Innovation: Open source software is constantly being improved by the community of developers.
    • Community support: There is a large and active community of developers who support open source software. This can be a valuable resource for businesses that need help with installation, configuration, or troubleshooting.
    BlenderBIM
BlenderBIM is an open source add-on for Blender that allows users to create and edit building information models (BIMs). It is a free tool that can be used by architects, engineers, and other professionals to create detailed and accurate BIM models.

BlenderBIM is based on the IfcOpenShell project, which is an open source library for reading and writing Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) files. IFC is an international standard for exchanging BIM data between different software applications.
