  • 1.  Designing with Mass Timber

    Posted 08-10-2023 04:07 PM

In recent years, our industry has revived a keen interest in #masstimber as a construction material, primarily driven to reduce #embodiedcarbon and mitigate #climatechange. How has this interest impacted the timber industry? Do we fully understand the impact of wood harvesting at scale? What is the current regulatory environment for mass timber buildings? What are key design impacts of working with timber? What are the benefits and challenges of using mass timber and how does it compare against traditional materials such as concrete?

Hugo, the research group at Corgan just published this its report - Designing with Mass Timber which provides an unbiased and comprehensive assessment of designing with timber and helps answer the questions above. If you are interested in this material and topic, I highly recommend reading the report.
