The Committee on the Environment (COTE®) is an AIA Knowledge Community working for architects, allied professionals, and the public to achieve climate action and climate justice through design. We believe that design excellence is the foundation of a healthy, sustainable, and equitable future. Our work promotes design strategies that empower all AIA members to realize the best social and environmental outcomes with the clients and the communities they serve.

    The AIA International Spring Virtual Conference has Sustainability talks throughout from eminent speakers broadcasting live from around the globe from Thursday 9th-11th March. Link to the program and free registration.

    The talks include:

    Thursday Keynote: Sustainability in Extreme Environments with Natalia Ford, British Antarctic Survey - Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Program

    Friday Keynote: COP27, Decarbonisation, and the Sustainable Futures Award. Speakers: Dr Christine Bruckner FAIA, Illya Azaroff FAIA.

    Saturday: AIA Hong Kong: Quantitative Details: The Application of Data and Simulations in the Design Process with Upjohn Fellow Vicki Lew AIA

    Several other talks on Reslient Design, Transforming existing buildings, and ecological architecture.
