Please join the AIANY Historic Buildings Committee on Tuesday, December 13 for an in-person (and virtual) event titled Redlines and Green Zones: Reassessing the Redline Maps.  April De Simone (Co-founder, Designing for Democracy; Co-Founder, Designing the WE; and Principal, Trahan Architects), will provide an overview of the history of the New Deal U.S. Government's Home Owner Loan Corporation (HOLC) maps created between 1935-40, and discuss the continuing legacy of racial and social inequities that were and still are embedded in the built environment of cities across the country.  This introductory event will be followed by a series of virtual workshops in the first part of the new year that are intended to stimulate discussion on how the architectural profession, and historic preservation specifically, can positively influence community-driven change to redress this condition and ultimately evolve more equitable cities.

When: Tuesday, December 13; reception starts at 5:30PM, lecture begins at 6PM
Where: AIANY Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Place, NYC NY
