Research Project to Explore Nursing Home Design & Adult Intimacy

  • 1.  Research Project to Explore Nursing Home Design & Adult Intimacy

    Posted 06-02-2013 04:09 PM

Dr. Gayle Doll and I are conducting a study about understanding the design of long-term care environments (specifically nursing homes and newer household settings) in the context of supporting intimate adult relationships for the residents who call these environments home.  The characteristic of "homelike" has long been a programmatic criterion for the redesign efforts of nursing home, but it is unclear what efforts have been made to create settings that support the natural intimate relationships that are typical of consenting adults. This survey endeavors to explore this question by asking designers and other experts what strategies can be employed to address these needs.

The following link will take you to a short survey.  There are only 9 questions and the entire survey shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. We would also appreciate it if you would pass this link on to other colleagues who you feel can contribute to this project.
