Aging in place design activity in Washington State

  • 1.  Aging in place design activity in Washington State

Having spent the last six years of my USDA Forest Service career on the regional Accessibility Team with a wheel chair buddy, I discovered the lifelong concern I have for disabilities.  Being a senior I am very interested in the vast majority of seniors who seek to remain in their unsafe residences to live out their years.

Clark County has been very aggressive in the senior design issues since forming an Aging Readiness Task Force six years ago.  The current Commission on Aging is focused this year on housing as we meet with the public each month.  I am very interested in making contact with folks who see this vital area and have decided to educate the next generations as we help current seniors.  There is a great deal of misunderstanding and potential wasted effort to be spent unless we educate the community.  Perhaps someone in this area would be willing to share at an up-coming gathering.
