  • 1.  Free Webinar: US State and Local Building Codes: How to tackle compliance challenges

    Posted 08-20-2018 03:34 PM

The Small Firm Exchange, an AIA Member Group invites you to attend a free webinar on Thursday, August 23 at 2pm Eastern.

US State and Local Building Codes: How to tackle compliance challenges

Society demands for safe, secure, healthy, energy efficient, accessible, functional, sustainable, high-performance buildings within a budget and timeline. The U.S. Codes & Standards development process is a reflection of American values. Free from centralized government control but strengthened through essential governmental participation. Codes & Standards are developed scientifically, and support the needs of our society extremely well. But because we have such a large country, local variations make the codes complex and difficult to digest, understand and comply. As architects we are responsible satisfying the society's high demands while complying with enforced codes and standards. In this session we will be describing the challenges and search for the solutions, with the focus on small architectural firms.

Speakers: Pelin Atasoy, AIA, CEO Compu-tecture - MADCAD.com

This Webinar was absolutely awful! A waste of time and turned into just a sales pitch for MadCad.com
The description of the course was very deceiving. Such a disappointment.

    Douglas and all,

I am sorry, I agree with Aric. That was the worse webinar I have ever attended, by far. If there was a vetting process to review this, it failed. I will leave at that, but would be happy to to share my thoughts off line if it would be helpful.

    Peace,

    David

You have confirmed my thoughts when first saw the webinar pitch. I smelled the commercial sales pitch and did not join it.

Agreed.  Technical difficulties first, then a prolonged sales pitch.

    Basically:
    • There are building codes
    • Here are some examples
    • Subscribe to our service

Very, very disappointed not only that this was allowed through the vetting process, but also that it was promoted by the AIA on a number of fronts.

Perhaps the reason it was let through is because MadCad is a proud sponsor. If I'm going to take time out of my day I want quality content not a sales pitch from someone with financial ties to AIA.
