Coming in January 2017 is a new professional journal for residential architects and custom home builders called Residential Design. Its mission is to provide rigorous, substantive information on the design and construction of distinctive custom homes. At the helm is award-winning journalist S. Claire Conroy, Assoc. AIA, who has served the residential design community for more than two decades. Subscriptions to the quarterly magazine are complimentary for professionals and may be requested at https://sola.omeda.com/rd/form.do.

To further expound, AIA CRAN wouldn't exist without the foresight, support, and nurturing of Claire Conroy.

Before CRAN, there was CORA, the Congress of Residential Architecture, formed by Dennis Wedlick, Duo Dickenson, and Jeremiah Eck. CORA's goal was to educate the public on the importance of investing in high quality design. That group was wholly incubated by Claire Conroy when she was at Residential Architect Magazine, and further, she gave CORA a platform to spread their message at RA's annual symposium, Reinvention. From CORA's very first presentation in LA 10+ years ago, was born the idea of trying to work the AIA to create change from within, to reinvent the AIA into an organization that both supported and educated residential architects. Something nonexistent at the time. While there are a handful CRAN's own that should be credited with the actual development and growth of CRAN from a subgroup of the AIA's Housing Network to becoming its own Knowledge Community, it could be easily argued that Claire Conroy is, and forever will be, CRAN's patron saint.

    Dear CRAN members,

I understand from Dawn Zuber that some of you are having difficulties subscribing to our new magazine for residential architects. I suspect there is some issue with the link working within this interface.

Here are a few workarounds to try:

    1. Direct link to the subscription site: Residential Design Subscription Form

    2. A link to our Coming Soon website, which also has the form link: Residential Design

    3. Cut and paste the following link into a new browser window: https://sola.omeda.com/rd/form.do

I also just tried this and it worked for me. Control click on any of the links above and select "open in a new window."

If you still have problems, please let me know directly. I will have a prepaid subscription card I can email to you shortly.

And, again, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience and look forward to having you join the magazine.

(Also, thank you, David, for the very kind words!)

    Best,

    Claire
