In an effort to support young professionals, CRAN has recently expanded to include an Emerging Professionals (EP) committee within the CRAN Knowledge Net community. This committee will focus on issues specific to those who are starting out in the profession and those who are still in the early stages of their career. The new CRAN/EP committee is made up of emerging professionals from throughout the AIA interested in custom residential design.
Student Design Competition
AIA CRAN is pleased to announce a brand new design competition for college students. Aimed to promote the craft and practice of residential architecture, the competition will challenge students to design a house for HERE + NOW.
The student designs shall be informed by context, culture, and vernacular--fully embracing 21st century technology and ideas of domesticity. Generated by CRAN leadership this outreach initiative will strengthen ties with universities across the country and will support emerging professionals who are interested in pursuing a career in residential design. Universities are encouraged to work with local CRAN chapters, from which volunteers shall assist design professors, serve as mock clients, and champion the competition initiative where logistically feasible. Further details available late Spring 2016.
As a way to reach out to other young professionals interested in residential architecture, each quarter the EP committee will feature an article in the CRAN Chronicle newsletter. Look for this feature each quarter under the section titled “Building Blocks”.
