The better you understand how human perception works, the better our urban planning + architecture can be.

The Dupont Underground has launched its second international design competition: Re-Think Dupont Circle (see below). Please pass along this announcement to colleagues and friends.

Ultimately, the objective is to develop a relationship like the Downtown BID did for Franklin Square with the National Park Service, some kind of role for the Dupont BID in managing the space of Dupont Circle which is in deplorable condition.

    Thanks,

    Julian Hunt

In the Spring of 2016 Dupont Underground built the winning entry to our first international design competition, Raze: Raise by Hou de Sousa: an installation using 650,000+ plastic balls repurposed from the interactive installation The Beach by Snarkitechture at the National Building Museum.

We feel it's well past time to Re-Think Dupont Circle as a social, human-centered, public space.

Today, Dupont Underground is launching a second International Design Competition: Re-Think Dupont Circle. The competition covers the immediate urban area of Dupont Circle and it takes place at two scales (micro & macro) that must be interwoven through concept and design. Call for submissions and registration is now open through December 4th, 2020.
