Who we are

The Committee on the Environment (COTE®) is an AIA Knowledge Community working for architects, allied professionals, and the public to achieve climate action and climate justice through design. We believe that design excellence is the foundation of a healthy, sustainable, and equitable future. Our work promotes design strategies that empower all AIA members to realize the best social and environmental outcomes with the clients and the communities they serve.

Sarcasm and Negativity in Knowledge Communities

  • 1.  Sarcasm and Negativity in Knowledge Communities

I'd like to suggest that snippy comments, sarcasm and mean spirited one-liners do not really have a place in a knowledge community thread, or on a listserve. They are usually out of context when they are published, and the clever retort only serves to spread negativity.

Either agree or disagree with a comment. Add something that contributes to all of our professional edification, or contact someone off list, or stay quiet. These messages make their ways into the inboxes of hundreds, if not thousands of your colleagues. Help us all do better instead of trying to "win" the KC discussion.

    Thanks all,
