An Upcoming AIA New York CRAN Virtual Event

    ResArch Practice: High-Performance Homebuilders

On behalf of the AIA National CRAN Executive Committee, I want to draw your attention to an upcoming residential design event that we are confident you will enjoy. It's a live webinar entitled: "Aiming for Near-Zero Carbon Homes". I recently participated in an event where I heard one of the panelists, Michael Ingui, speak on the subject - and I was very impressed.

In addition to sharing a number of thoughtful insights into passive house design, he explained how to get your residential clients onboard. Something I think many architects and builders interested in including more of this work into their projects will appreciate. Michael discourages the use of industry jargon with clients. Instead of mentioning sustainability (or other industry terms that can shut down communication) he encourages helping the client to understand the specific BENEFITS THEY WILL GAIN from the inclusion of the product and design strategies you are recommending.

In other words, don't talk to them about the importance of sustainable design. Instead, help them to envision themselves totally comfortable in their home, in the dead of winter with snow all around; and with the heat source inside their home turned completely off. That will get their attention!

    Aiming for Near-Zero Carbon Homes

    Jan 26, 2021

    2.0 LU / 2.0 HSW

The cost of the live webinar event is $5.00 for AIANY members and $10.00 for all other AIA members.

*This event will be occurring as a live webinar. Registrants will be emailed a link to access the program.*

ResArch Practice, presented by the AIANY Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN), is a series of conversations between designers, contractors, and verifiers who have pursued or achieved LEED and Passive House certification for homes. Please join us to hear four interviews between high-performance homebuilders and the residential design consultants they worked with to create near-zero carbon homes. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and benefits of near-zero carbon and low-impact construction and participate in a live roundtable discussion between the moderator, panelists, and audience.

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for telling us about this event.  It looks like it will be very informative.  I signed up through the link you provided.  It did not ask for my AIA number and I want to make sure I didn't miss anything.  Will you be asking us our AIA number later so you can report it to our AIA CEU transcripts?

    Thank you!
    Scott

...aaaaaand it looks like I just needed to be more patient.
I read this in the confirmation email I just received:
Please note, if this course is offering AIA CES Credits, please make sure you login using the same email address that received this message. AIA members do not need to type in their member numbers.

Also, a correction worth noting is that the cost is $10 for the general public and $5 for AIA Members.  Free for AIANY Members.
