COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The International Code Council (ICC) is accepting applications to sit on its 2021/2022 Code Development Committees during the next code cycle to develop the 2024 editions of the ICC I-Codes. These committees will have a major influence on the content of these codes.
ICC develops construction and public safety codes through the governmental consensus process. This system of code development has provided the residents of the United States the highest level of safety in the world for more than 80 years. Every three years, a new code cycle begins with the submission of code change proposals followed by discussion and debate at committee action hearings and public comment hearings. The cycle culminates with the publishing of a new edition of the I-Codes ready to be adopted throughout the United States and by the global community. As one code cycle comes to completion, the next code cycle begins.
Four members of the AIA National Codes and Standards (C&S) Committee will share their experiences applying for and serving on past ICC Code Development Committees and the significant impact AIA members can make on our national model construction codes.
Applications for the Group A Committees (serving in 2021) and Group B Committees (serving 2022) are due June 1, 2020. A link to submit applications will be provided during the webinar.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1) Explain how the ICC Code Development Process works.
2) Explain the role of those appointed to the ICC Code Development Committees.
3) Understand the significant impact AIA members can make on our national model construction codes and the state and local codes they influence.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
