The Interior Architecture Knowledge Committee (IAKC) is committed to advancing the practice of Interior Architecture and fostering design excellence in our community. Facilitating a national dialogue focused on practice, Advisory Group members Susan Brain of Perkins and Will, Steve Kordalski of Kordalski Architects Inc and Dave Robar of Vocon are reinvigorating an Interview Series to connect our community with design leadership representing multiple practice sectors and career paths. Together we will explore key issues, including innovative design and programming, the incorporation of sustainable materials and technologies, and the social, cultural, and spatial impact of architecture on human experience.

Our conversations address national issues through the regional sensitivity of our members, providing a glimpse into daily operations and design experiences of critically celebrated professionals. Kicking off our series, we will feature interviews with esteemed practitioners such as Suzanne Tick, Mogens Smed and Nila R. Leiserowitz. We'll also share an insightful conversation with Chicago Tribune architecture critic Blair Kamin. Our interviewees will address a range of practice issues, like the impact of the pandemic on the role of the designer, advice to recent graduates entering the profession and the relationship of architecture to specialty practice areas such as textile design.

Fresh interviews will be posted bi-monthly as we first nurture the program. Please let us know if you have recommendations for who you may want to see join the discussion. We hope you will join the conversation!
