The AIA Academy of Architecture for Health's Research Initiatives Committee has just downloaded another new "bench-marking" case study. This 2015 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award winning project is the Bridgepoint Active Healthcare located in Toronto, Canada and was designed by Stantec Architecture/KPMB Architects/ HDR Architecture /Diamond Schmitt Architects. This project is particularly interesting for its emphasis on the transformative rehabilitation of the patients as well as the transformative rehabilitation of the old existing jail building and the restorative "park-like" campus. The project's emphasis on gardens, parks, roof-top terraces and connections to nature enhance the "restorative" rehabilitative therapies for patients, families, staff and the general public. We have added the introductory 2-page spread to peak your interest. Go to the Library to see the rest of this Case Study.
The American Institute of Architects recognized the project as one of the best in the nation, awarding it a 2015 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award.
We now have forty-one (41) Case Studies of the 2013 through 2019 AIA Academy of Architecture for Health's Award Winning Projects in the Library. We have drafted, and continue to draft, more of the 2018 and 2019 Award Winning projects Case Studies; and we will be submitting more of them over the next few weeks, and will be starting the 2020 Award winners soon.
Go to aia.org/aah and click on Case Studies Quick Link on the left of the page to access the Case Study Library or aia.org/aahcasestudies
