I am hoping this will be a quick poll.

Does your state have any legislation/requirement in place or under consideration to have school designs reviewed or prepared by professionals with specific safety expertise such as CPTED?  I know that Virginia added the CPTED requirement recently.

If so, please briefly describe the requirement or point us to it.

    Thanks you all!

    Bill,

The State of Michigan recently (2018) passed a law requiring school districts to consult with the local law enforcement agency having jurisdiction on any school construction projects that impact safety and security.

At the same time it created an Office of School Safety, housed within the Michigan State Police, which is responsible for creating model practices for school safety, providing training, and working with local police to assess emergency operation plans developed by local schools.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Bill,

Not in the State of Washington. I understand there was an attempt last year to pass legislation on some mandatory requirements for school safety, but it died in committee.
