Who we are

The Construction Contract Administration Knowledge Community (CCA) has been established to help our members better understand the issues, actions and resultant impact of the decisions required in this often neglected part of Project Delivery. It is our goal to provide clear answers to issues of concern to the Institute’s membership and share case studies and best practices. We further hope to provide guidance and direction in developing guidelines for new and evolving approaches to Project Delivery as well as guidance in the continuing education of our emerging young professionals.

How to connect

- Join to get occasional emails with new content and resources.
- Post on the discussion board to ask questions and share ideas.
- Read a CCA white paper - or contribute your own!
- Attend an upcoming event such as webinars and conferences.
- Provide feedback on what you'd like to see from your CCA community at cca@aia.org.

  • 1.  CSI CDT Continuing Education for Certificate Renewal

I am a current CDT certificate holder which will now have a 3 year renewal requirement. I was wondering how anyone out there who has a CSI certificate (CCCA, CCS, etc.) completes there CEU requirement towards those CSI certificate renewals? Did you send CSI an AIA transcript to satisfy the learning unit requirement?

Thank you all and hope all are doing well out there.

There is a way to post them on the CSI website under your profile.

You can log into your CSI account and click on "Open My Dashboard",  then click on "MY CERTIFICATIONS:, and then "MANAGE CONTINUING EDUCATION".  Here's where you can add learning units for the CDT Certification.

If you have any problems, I suggest you call CSI Member Services at 800-689-2900.

Go to CSI Resources.org (you must have an account) and log in. Click on "Certification" or "Open My Dashboard." Then click on "My Certifications" and there you will see a link for "Manage Continuing Education." There you can add CEUs for your indicated certifications.

    Daniel,

CDT was original a certificate program but now it is a certification. CSI only asks you to verify upon your renewal that you have completed the required hours. This is basically an 'honor system' verification. If you complete your required AIA LUs, you have met your CDT requirements. I don't recall any audit of my LUs, but I have been audited by several state boards and I just send them my AIA transcript and get a "thank you" email in minutes.

The CDT certification program is a good foundation of construction documentation knowledge and I would encourage to continue your knowledge growth and the CCCA certification is a good next step. After licensure, I worked in the construction administration department of a large firm for several years and this is where all the design/construction education and training became more than concepts. It brought design, project delivery, contracts, and maintenance into focus.
