Who we are

The Construction Contract Administration Knowledge Community (CCA) has been established to help our members better understand the issues, actions and resultant impact of the decisions required in this often neglected part of Project Delivery. It is our goal to provide clear answers to issues of concern to the Institute’s membership and share case studies and best practices. We further hope to provide guidance and direction in developing guidelines for new and evolving approaches to Project Delivery as well as guidance in the continuing education of our emerging young professionals.

    Greetings from the University of Minnesota project team!

    If you have completed or are working on an IPD project with a multi-party agreement, or know someone who has, please consider participating in or spreading the word about the industry's first broad-based IPD study. The survey is framed around three simple questions, requires no preparation, and is designed for individual stakeholder response (no team coordination required).     When you were making the decision to use IPD, would comparative information about the method as regards the following items have been useful in making the choice?

    • Schedule predictability
    • Cost and Budget Control
    • Quality of Building Outcome - Design goals
    • Quality of Building Outcome - technical performance goals
    • Changes (quantity)
    • Changes (handling)
    • Morale of stakeholders
    • Overall Value Delivered

    And now that you've done or are doing it, would you like to see how your experience compares, both to the experience of others and to other delivery methods? There is some limited data currently available on some of these topics for IPD, but not much, and is also diluted by being covered in studies that also include design-bid-build, design-build, CM at risk, and IPD-ish or IPD-lite projects.

    The University of Minnesota is heading up a simple research project designed to get exactly these kinds of answers for the industry and for you. The survey requires no preparation and is framed around three simple questions. The goal is 300 respondents (owner, architect, contractor, other) from 100 multi-party IPD projects, yielding a significant body of rich and relevant comparative data. Your experience would be highly valued!
    Your answers will be confidential and data shared only in aggregate. The survey is being fielded now with results available to you in September / October of this year. Please consider sharing your personal experience and adding value to this important industry conversation!
