What method of measurement for health care projects is your office using?   What have owners asked for?   Does your firm use or is considering implementing the ASHE- Area Calculation Method for Health Care?

I'd suggest the standard established by the CHD and ASHE:

I recommend using a Behavioral Insights Toolkit for measuring and managing required code compliance on healthcare facilities projects.

This can analyze problems and develop strategies to aid facilities administration in JC risk management. It is a perfect fit for ASHE as it complements their objective to minimize risks and manage JC standards through design.

We have used the ASHE standards, the AHJ State/Local requirements, as directed by the Client to meet Federal directives (JC), and in some cases we have to reconcile the various stakeholders.  The changing face of health care facilities now includes leased spaces within a mixed use envelope which could call for the more traditional commercial use of BOMA calculation (https://www.boma.org/BOMA/BOMA-Standards/BOMA_Floor_Measurement_Standards/Mixed-Use/BOMA/BOMA-Standards/BOMA_Floor_Measurement_Standards/Mixed-Use.aspx?hkey=e583101a-569e-4724-a470-0ece64bb96bd).
