    Description

This presentation will conduct an in-depth exploration of the distinctions between exam, procedure, operating, and imaging rooms in the 2018 FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals. A review of procedure types and levels of invasiveness will take place, as well as evaluation of the potential impact of ASHRAE Standard 170-2017, Addendum L, which works to align the ASHRAE and FGI documents. Finally, we'll discuss the importance of conducting a clinical risk assessment when planning a new or renovated space. This
presentation builds on an article published in the October 2019 issue of Health Facilities Management.

    Learning objectives

After participating in this webinar attendees will:

    1. Be able to convey the importance and general need for conducting a clinical assessment when planning clinical spaces
    2. Explain the distinctions and requirements for the basic room types where patient encounters take place (i.e., exam, procedure, operating, and imaging rooms)
    3. Understand appropriate levels of invasiveness and typical procedures in relation to each room type
    4. Explain the possible impact of recent revisions to Standard 170-2017, Addendum L
