For the seventh week in a row, the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health's Research Initiatives Committee has just downloaded another new "bench-marking" case study.   This 2017 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award winning project is the Meridian Center for Health located in Seattle, Washington by Nbbj.  This project is particularly interesting as it is a patient-centered health clinic for underserved populations.  The architects worked with their client to create a warm, open and welcoming architecture that helps to orient the diverse population of patients, visitors and families that speak more than 65 languages via multinational signage and wayfinding.  This warm and welcoming environment starts with the "welcome zone" entry which includes the education and social services support areas; and continues with the simplified circulation and clear wayfinding to the clinics on both floors that helps reduce the stress and increase the trust in the care team. We have added the introductory 2-page spread to peak your interest.  Go to the Library to see the rest of this Case Study.

The American Institute of Architects recognized the project as one of the best in the nation, awarding it a 2017 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award.

We now have thirty-six (36) Case Studies of the 2013 through 2018 Award Winning Projects in the Library.  We have drafted several more of the 2018 and 2019 Award Winning projects Case Studies and many of those will be submitted over the next few weeks.
