Michelle Amt, AIA on Design the Future podcast / Women in Sustainability

Michelle Amt is one of the smartest, most thoughtful, and funniest people in the industry. I am proud to call her a friend. And she doesn't mince words. Some feedback she gave me and Lance Hosey on our book title, Women in Green, was that it brought to mind "naked women dancing around a cauldron with T-squares."

Lindsay Baker and I had a lively chat with Michelle for our latest Design the Future podcast on the Acuity Brands' Women in Sustainability platform.

Michelle is Director of Sustainability at VMDO Architects. She has a perceptive, patient brilliance that makes her fun to work with and immensely enjoyable to learn from. I'm certain those qualities will serve her well on the jury for the AIA COTE Top Ten Awards this year. Michelle says that program merges design and performance like no other. Michelle says she feels like she's part of a movement within an industry. She sees the industry as the baseline, championing things that we should all be doing, whereas the movement is trying to make much bigger change.
