  • 1.  Editorial from the NYT: NAHB has secret agreement with the ICC

    This is the first I've heard of this, and there are no specifics given on proposed changes, but this is something that the AIA should definitely monitor: 


    According to Justin Gillis, the NYT environmental writer, the National Association of Home Builders has an agreement with the International Code Council allowing them undue influence over proposed code changes, which will be basically choosing short term savings but threaten long term environmental issues.

    The move by ICC has the potential to undermine all of the progress made to improve the energy code nation wide. It would very likely prevent any further progress. AIA National Advocacy team has already working to prevent the change. We should work at our local & state components to get more support from the governmental members of ICC to stop it.
