  • 1.  Skylight Leak Fixed with Silly Putty

    Posted 10-25-2021 05:34 PM

With the record rain storm in the Bay Area last night, our bank of skylights started leaking a steady stream (long history of about the previous homeowner installing a custom fabricated 20-foot assembly of skylights/window - quite beautiful and quite leak-prone).  Around 2 AM, we devised a solution to get us through the night: Silly Putty!

Pressed into place, it plugged the leaks until morning.  Has anyone else had success with Silly Putty?  Do you think we can use it for a long-term solution?

Mastic and boiled castor beans can solve it.

Fixing leaks in Architecture takes work (Strogoff FAIA might be able to design a new printable emulsion based nylon webbing with a hardened glaze over the silicone sealant for Federation Square's new addition), but Architectural style should afford value. So, Architectural style has a new study by theDailyTrotter (me) called A Look at Order: Establishment and Progression. It is now available through the following link: A Look at Order: Establishment and Progression by theDailyTrotter / Seth Trotter.

For context, I am the protege of Romeo Ty, and, completed the narrated task of compiling historical style into a list from Contemporary to Creation. It is the fastest complete look at style available. Senior Designers can regain a quick look at historical periods. The AIA can regain some of their abilities in the institute's early history that established it's renown through 19th Century style.
